Privacy Policy

Auto Image Batcher converts the images in folders you choose, on your Mac. It has no internet access, no account, no analytics and no tracking. The developer never receives any of your images or data. This policy explains what the app does and why.
In short
| What | Where it goes | Can the developer see it? |
|---|---|---|
| Your images | Read and converted on your Mac, saved where you choose | No |
| The folders you watch and their settings | Stored only on your Mac | No |
| Activity history (file names, sizes, formats) | Stored only on your Mac | No |
Who is responsible
Auto Image Batcher is developed by Marco Lüthi, the controller responsible for data processing under the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP) and, where applicable, the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

Your folders and images
The app only sees the folders you add yourself, by choosing or dropping them. macOS grants this access through the app sandbox, and the app keeps a bookmark to each folder so it can watch it again after a restart. It reads the images that arrive in those folders, converts them on your Mac and writes the results where you set: a subfolder, next to the originals, or another folder you choose. If you turn on Move to Trash, it moves an original to the Trash once its converted copy is saved. It doesn't look at any other files on your Mac.
If you watch a folder that Dropbox, Google Drive, OneDrive, iCloud Drive or a server keeps in sync, those services handle the files in it, including the converted images, under their own terms and privacy policies. Auto Image Batcher itself sends nothing anywhere.
No internet access
The app is sandboxed without permission to connect to the internet, so it can't send or receive anything online. All conversion happens on your Mac, with Apple's frameworks and open-source image encoders built into the app.
What the app stores on your Mac
In its own storage inside the app's sandbox, it keeps: the folders you watch with their settings, a record of which files it has already converted in each (their paths, sizes and dates, so nothing is converted twice), simple totals such as how many images were converted, and an activity history of recent conversions with file names, formats and sizes. You can clear the activity history at any time, and removing a folder removes its records. The app never writes anything into your folders except the converted images.
Notifications and settings
If you allow notifications, the app shows a local notification when a batch is finished. It is created on your Mac and never passes through a server. If you turn on Launch at Login, macOS keeps that setting in System Settings → General → Login Items.
Purchase
Auto Image Batcher is sold on the Mac App Store. Apple handles the purchase under its own privacy policy. The developer receives only the anonymous sales reports Apple provides to every developer.
Legal basis
Where the GDPR applies, the processing described above is necessary to provide the features you use (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR). Under the Swiss FADP, we process personal data only as described here and in line with its principles. Everything the app stores stays on your Mac and is under your control.
What Auto Image Batcher does not do
- No account, sign-up or login.
- No advertising, analytics or crash reporting.
- No uploading of your images, or anything about them, to the developer or anyone else.
- No tracking across apps or websites, and no selling or sharing of data.
This website
This website is a static site without cookies, analytics or tracking. Fonts are served from this website itself, so your browser does not contact third-party font services. When you visit a page, the hosting provider Vercel Inc. (based in the United States, with data centres worldwide) automatically records technical access data in server logs: your IP address, date and time, the requested page, referrer and browser type. This is needed to deliver the site and keep it secure (legitimate interest, Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). The logs are deleted after a short period. Links to the App Store take you to Apple, where Apple's privacy policy applies.
Your rights
You have the right to request access to your personal data and to have it corrected or deleted, to object to or restrict processing, and to data portability. Because the apps store your data on your device and do not identify you, the developer usually holds no personal data about you. Most of it you can delete yourself by deleting the app.
To exercise your rights, email hi@luthi-mar.co. You can also lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority: in Switzerland the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC), in the EU the data protection authority of your country.
International transfers
Apple may process data in the United States and other countries. Apple describes the safeguards it uses for these transfers, such as the Data Privacy Framework and standard contractual clauses, in its privacy policy. This website is hosted by Vercel Inc., based in the United States; its server logs are transferred under the same kind of safeguards.
Children
Auto Image Batcher is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect data from them.
Changes to this policy
If the app starts handling data differently, this page will be updated before the change ships, and the date at the top will change.
